Where I Stand On The Issues

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT:

We need to focus our resources toward educating our children and workers. This can provide the high tech, high paying jobs Montrose needs. No taxpayer money should be paid as an incentive for moving or expanding companies.

FAIRNESS:

The basic aim for any society is fairness, an even playing field. Fairness means that all sides are heard equally and all &emdash; individuals as well as businesses &emdash; contribute their fair share to maintaining our city, its infrastructure and our rural heritage.

TRANSPORTATION:

The rural West poses many challenges for efficient movement of people and goods. Vast distances separate us from the rest of the world. We need to focus on efficient transportation modes to be competitive and maintain our quality of life.

HOME-BASED BUSINESS:

The ability to start and grow a business is central to the American way of life. Home-based businesses are the primary method for starting a business. Respect and safety for neighbors must be maintained and commercial operations must be conducted on business properties.

AGRICULTURE AND RURAL VALUES:

The rural life style defines Montrose. We need to focus on maintaining profitable farming and ranching operations. Land use development must identify and protect farming and ranching.
